Operated Heavy Duty Bimetal Relay – 3UC5830-5E
The Siemens 3UC5830-5E is a CT-operated
heavy-duty bimetal overload relay designed for reliable protection of industrial
motors under heavy starting and long acceleration conditions. It belongs to
the Siemens 3UC5 series, which is specifically developed for
applications where motors draw high inrush current and require Class 30-type
thermal protection characteristics.
This relay operates on a CT-based bimetal thermal
principle, where motor current is sensed through current transformers and
converted into proportional heat energy in the bimetal strips. In case of overload,
phase failure, or current imbalance, the bimetal elements bend and actuate
the tripping mechanism to disconnect the motor, preventing winding damage and
overheating.
The 3UC5830-5E is typically used for higher
current motor ranges (approx. 25–40 A class depending on CT configuration)
and is suitable for demanding industrial applications such as pumps,
compressors, conveyors, crushers, and continuous-duty heavy machinery.
